Delhi : On 20/4/2025 Delhi unites for Animal rights at Jantar Mantar

In a rare show of unity and strength, over 500 people gathered on a warm Sunday afternoon in a show of solidarity for Delhi’s animals.Well organised debate and discussion sessions took place where the role of the police and judiciary in animal protection was explained.

Well known lawyers, Jesudas Asher, Divyam Khera, NANITA sharma and Leena Sharma addressed the gathering. Ambika Shukla of PFA, Anjali Gopalan from AWBI, Ayesha Christina of Neighbourhood Woof, and Gaurav Dar of Dulari also spoke.

The fear of relocation was addressed by reminding the crowd that the law prohibited removing dogs from any area and there was a clear direction from Delhi High Court and SC that sterilised dogs could not be picked up by the municipality.

Young leaders like Jagriti and Aditya motivated and enthused the crowd with their personal experiences. The youngest speaker, an 8 year old, moved people to tears.The event was organised by Ajay Joe, Renu and team who had thoughtfully provided a vegan spread including chhas, chai, icecream and samosas.

The message that went out from the rally was Not Awara Yeh Hamara. Delhi’s dogs under the watch of feeders and caregivers would remain safe and sound.
