New Delhi: Widespread unrest broke out across Noida and Greater Noida on Monday as factory workers staged large-scale demonstrations, leading to major disruptions in daily life. The protests intensified after an incident a day earlier in which a woman employee was reportedly injured during a confrontation, triggering anger among workers.

Thousands of employees gathered at multiple locations, blocking key roads and bringing traffic to a standstill. Commuters faced severe delays, with many struggling to reach their workplaces amid long traffic snarls across major routes connecting Delhi and Noida.

Despite recent assurances from the district administration aimed at addressing workers’ concerns—such as introducing weekly holidays, overtime compensation, and a grievance redressal system—the situation escalated. Protesters expressed dissatisfaction, demanding better wages and working conditions.

In some areas, the demonstrations turned violent. Reports indicated incidents of stone pelting, vandalism, and arson, with a few vehicles set ablaze. The unrest spread across several sectors, where groups of workers gathered in large numbers, raising slogans and obstructing traffic movement.

Authorities responded by deploying heavy police forces in sensitive zones to restore order. Security was tightened around industrial areas, and officials continued to monitor the situation closely.

Traffic authorities also issued advisories, urging commuters to avoid affected routes and use alternative roads to minimize inconvenience. Meanwhile, protests reportedly began spreading to nearby regions, raising concerns about further escalation.

Officials have stated that talks with worker representatives are ongoing and efforts are being made to bring the situation under control while addressing their demands.
