Delhi- In a major action against illegal storage, transportation, and suspected black marketing of LPG cylinders, the staff of Police Station Bawana, Outer North District, Delhi, has arrested one accused person and recovered a large quantity of illegally stored LPG gas cylinders.
Under the overall leadership of Sh. Vijay Singh, IPS, Joint Commissioner of police, Northern Range, and overall supervision of Sh. Hareshwar Swami, IPS, DCP/OND, several teams of police station and Units were briefed and directed to take action against illegal storage, transportation, and suspected black marketing of LPG cylinders to maintain law & order in the society.
THE INFORMATION
On 02.04.2026, the dedicated team develop input regarding the illegal storage and transportation of LPG Cylinder. This information was immediately shared with hierarchy and a dedicated team was comprising HC Jitender No. 2034/OND and HC Pankaj No. 2240/OND was constituted under the supervision of Sh. Gaurav Singh, IPS, Officiating SHO/Bawana, & Sh. Joginder Singh, ACP/Bawana under the Overall Supervision of Sh. Hareshwar Swami, IPS, DCP/OND, & Overall Leadership of Sh. Vijay Singh, IPS, Joint Commissioner of police, Northern Range
OPERATION, APPREHENSION & RECOVERY
The dedicated team immediately laid a picket near District Park, Sector-2, DSIIDC, Bawana, Delhi. At about 04:00 PM, a TATA Ace vehicle bearing registration No. DL1LAM** was noticed approaching the spot. The informer pointed towards the vehicle and informed the police team that LPG cylinders were being illegally transported in it.
The vehicle was immediately stopped and checked. During inspection, the driver disclosed his identity as Anil S/o Late Virender Kalita, aged 50 years, resident of Village Auchandi, Delhi. On checking the vehicle, the police recovered 27 LPG gas cylinders, consisting of 13 domestic cylinders and 14 commercial cylinders. Out of these, 10 domestic cylinders and 7 commercial cylinders were found filled.
When questioned regarding the ownership, transport, and authorization of the cylinders, the accused failed to provide any satisfactory explanation or valid documents. No license, authority letter, transport permit, stock register, storage permission, invoice, or ownership proof could be produced by him.
Upon receiving the information, SI Vishnu along with police staff reached the spot. The accused, the TATA Ace vehicle, and the recovered cylinders were handed over to the IO. Considering the hazardous nature of LPG cylinders, Crime Team OND and FSO Sh. Sanjeev Gosain were called to the spot. The place was inspected scientifically and photographs of the recovery were taken.
During sustained interrogation, the accused disclosed that he had stored additional LPG cylinders in two rooms and one iron room situated near Factory, G Block, Sector-2, DSIIDC, Bawana. Acting on his disclosure, the police team immediately conducted a search at the disclosed premises.
During the search, the following recoveries were made:
24 LPG cylinders recovered from the iron room
10 LPG cylinders recovered from one room
14 LPG cylinders recovered from the adjoining room
All the above cylinders were found stored without any safety measures and without any legal authorization.
ACCUSED DETAILS
1. Anil S/o Late Virender Kalita, aged 50 years, resident of Village Auchandi, Delhi.

6. 10 filled domestic cylinders of Indane Gas
7. 01 empty cylinder of Go Gas
The accused was found to have illegally stored and transported the cylinders at an unauthorized place, thereby posing a grave threat to public safety due to the combustible nature of LPG gas. The circumstances also indicate possible illegal sale and black marketing of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders.
Accordingly, a case has been registered at PS Bawana under Sections 287/61(2) BNS and 3/7 Essential Commodities Act, 1955. The accused Anil S/o Late Virender Kalita has been formally arrested, and all 75 LPG cylinders along with the TATA Ace vehicle have been seized as case property.
Further investigation is underway to trace the source of supply, intended buyers, illegal distribution network, possible involvement of gas agency employees or other associates, and financial gain derived from black marketing activities.
The timely action by the police team has prevented a serious threat to public safety and exposed an illegal LPG storage and transportation operation in the industrial area of Bawana.
