A DESPERATE CRIMINAL NABBED BY TEAM AATS/NORTH-EAST DISTT.
01 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL ALONGWITH 05 LIVE CARTRIDGES RECOVERED FROM HIS POSSESSION.
HE FOUND TO BE A NOVICE CRIMINAL, ROAMING IN THE AREA & LOOKING FOR SOFT TARGETS IN ORDER TO COMMIT SNATCHING OR ROBBERY.
With the arrest of a desperate criminal namely, Md. Aabid , team AATS/NED recovered a sophisticated semi-automatic pistol loaded with 05 live cartridges. He was roaming in the area and looking for easy targets in order to commit snatching or robbery.
Brief facts of the incident :-
In view of safety & security of the residents during upcoming Republic Day celebrations and to curb street crime in North-East District, team AATS was tasked to make all-out efforts to keep a close watch over anything suspicious. In pursuance, AATS team is continuously making efforts through technical surveillance and human intelligence for gathering the information about persons involved in street crime.
On 10.01.2024, an information regarding a person raomng in the area & he has having a sophisticated weapon, was received by AATS staff. The information was further developed and a dedicated team led by Inspr. Vinod Ahlawat, IC/AATS comprising of SI Vishal Tyagi, ASI Ranbir, HC Krishan, HC Sonu Baisla, HC Deepak Malik, Ct. Monu Poonia and Ct. Saudan Dhaka was constituted under the supervision of ACP/Ops/NED. The team was properly briefed and directed to nab the suspected person by taking all the precautions as the suspect was armed.
The team laid a trap in the area near Bharampuri Road, Jafrabad. On the instance of informer, a person in black color jacket, later identified as Md. Aabid was nabbed. During his cursory search, 01 sophisticated semi-automatic pistol loaded with 05 live cartridges was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 28/24 U/S 25/54/59 Arms Act, PS Jafrabad, Delhi was registered and investigation was taken up.
During investigation, Md. Abid admitted for his crime and revealed that he studied up to 12th standard and works in a factory dealing in manufacturing of jeans pants. He has fascination for guns. On his sustained interrogation, he disclosed about his source of supply of arms & ammunition. He also disclosed that he was roaming in the area and looking for easy targets in order to commit snatching or robbery.
Efforts are being made to trace his source of supply and possible involvements in criminal cases.
