Smartphones containing the banned IMO application installed and Bangladeshi national identity documents seized

 Delhi – In a concerted effort to curb illegal immigration, the Foreigner Cell of North-West District, Delhi Police apprehended two female individuals on 01.04.2026 during an operation conducted within the jurisdiction of PS Shalimar Bagh. During verification, it was found that both individuals were illegally residing in India without any valid travel or identity documents.

 Operation Details:

Specific information was received through an informer that some Bangladeshi females were secretly coming to Shalimar Bagh area to work as domestic helpers (maids).

On the basis of this input, A dedicated team of Foreigners Cell was constituted under the close supervision of Insp. Vipin Kumar (Foreigner Cell) and overall supervision of Sh. Akash Rawat, ACP/Foreigners Cell. The raiding team comprising of SI Shyambir, ASI Rajinder, HC Vikram, HC Kapil Kumar, W/HC Deepak, HC Praveen, Ct. Hawa Singh and Ct. Deepak Bangar, made continuous surveillance and verification drives in the Shalimar Bagh area.

On 01.04.2026 in the morning hours, acting upon a specific tip-off and at the instance of the informer, two suspicious females were intercepted while moving towards Haiderpur area within the jurisdiction of PS Shalimar Bagh.

On initial questioning, both individuals tried to mislead the raiding party by claiming to be Indian citizens and they said, they are working as house maids in the Kothi’s. However, their inconsistent replies raised suspicion regarding their credentials.

Subsequently, a detailed investigation was carried out, including verification of documents, analysis of digital footprints and examination of available evidence, which established that both females are Bangladeshi nationals illegally residing in Delhi, India. During interrogation, one of them was found graduate & one was illiterate. The graduate was working in Delhi to earn more money.

During the investigation, two smartphones installed with a banned IMO application and Bangladeshi national identity documents were found in the possession.

 Legal Action:

Necessary legal action was initiated as per the provisions of law. The apprehended Bangladeshi national was produced before FRRO, and deportation proceedings were initiated as per established procedures.
