20.01.2024 India’s famous deepfake video case solved by IFSO Unit of Delhi Police. Mastermind who created and posted deepfake videos of a noted film actress XXX arrested..The accused was responsible for creating uploading and circulating the deepfake video through various social media platforms. The arrest marks a crucial milestone in the ongoing efforts to combat deepfake cybercrime and to pre-empt the nefarious design to defame celebrities.
With the arrest of one Eemani Naveen who is just Age-24yrs, IFSO Unit of Special Cell, Delhi Police solved the famous case of deepfake video of a noted film star Ms. XXX.
BACKGROUND OF THE CASE
A complaint was received alleged that one deepfake video of a noted film actress Ms. XXX is being circulated on social media platform. During the preliminary analysis it was found that original video was uploaded by a British Indian girl on her Instagram account in October 2023 and later on deepfake video of a noted film actress was created and circulated on various social media platforms. On the basis of this complaint the present case was registered and investigation was carried out. A team of Inspector Hansraj Swami and SI Kapil Yaduvanshi under the supervision of ACP Manoj Kumar swung into action.
OPERATION AND ARREST
During the investigation, more than 500 social media accounts related to the alleged deepfake videos were analysed. The videos were analysed in the Cyber Lab under the supervision of ACP Vijay Gehlawat. During this, IFSO unit interrogated more than several social media account holders from all over India and collected relevant information. After the deep analysis and interrogation of suspected persons, finally the account of alleged was traced on Instagram. During further analysis, it was found that the original video of one British Indian girl was posted on 9.10.2023 and the deepfake video was posted on 13.10.2023. After identifying the alleged, a team of Inspector Hansraj Swami and SI Kapil Yaduvanshi under the supervision of ACP Manoj Kumar reached Guntur, Andhra Pradesh and located the alleged Eemani Naveen confessed his crime. During interrogation the alleged revealed that :He is a big fan of a noted film actress Ms. XXX and created and running a fan pages. The alleged also created two more fan pages of another two noted celebrities. He was managing all three pages and uploading original/clean videos. Followers of fan page of two more film stars are in lacs but XXX was only 90 thousand.. Just to increase the followers of page of XXX, he created the deepfake vide of actress XXX and posted it on the fan page on 13.10.2023.
Due to this deepfake video, the fan following of this page was increased from 90,000 to 1,08000 within two weeks.
Later, when he realized that it became a national sensation. He also saw tweet from famous film stars against the said Deepfake video. He got scared and deleted the said posts from the Instagram Channel and also changed the name of Insta channel. He had also deleted the relevant digital data from his devices.On sustained interrogation of the accused, he disclosed that while pursuing B tech, he completed certification in Digital Marketing from Google Garage in 2019. He got more interest in Digital media. He completed course like Web site development, Photoshop, video editing from You Tube etc. He came back to village in March 2023. He started working from home by providing services of Photoshop, Instagram channel promotion, YouTube video creation/editing and Search engine optimization on charges basis.

Name: Eemani Naveen s/o LateSambasiva Rao Eemami r/o 2-70-3A, Village- Palaparru, Pedanandipadu, District- Guntur, Andhar Pradesh, Age-23 yrs.
Qualification:Passed B-tech in E&C stream in 2021 from Adhi college of Engineering and Technology, Chennai.
Profession:Working from home by providing services of Photoshop, Instagram channel promotion, YouTube video creation/editing and Search engine optimization on charges basis.
Special Cell Delhi police recovered a laptop and three mobile phones
