BUNKERMAN TECHNOLOGY OUTPERFORMS AT GUWAHATI IOCL REFINERY BUNKERMAN

The CO2 below 800 ppm and TVOC below 400 ppb for 18 months and erosion level is at G1(Mild) Level at the IOCL Refinery, Guwahati  as created by Dr Maj General Shripal.

Technology of Direct Carbon Capture at Negative Cost (DCCNC) was installed at the DDCS Control Center Guwahati as a Pilot Project on 08 July 2024. The chemical filters used in the system were guaranteed to work for 12 months without replacement. However, on observing the outstanding performance of the filters during quarterly checks of their residual capacity, BUNKERMAN requested the users (Guwahati Refinery) to permit using the same filters for another 6 months time without replacement so that their performance can be evaluated even beyond the guarantee period on 12 months. Guwahati Refinery agreed for the same and the performance of the system with filters was evaluated for the extended period of 18 months. It was found that the systems and filters performed satisfactorily and maintained the desired corrosive atmosphere at Level G1 (Mild), CO2 concentration below 800 ppm and TVOC below 400 ppb continuously for 18 months period, against the 12 months guarantee period. Maj Gen Dr Shri Pal, Chairman of BUNKERMAN informed that this outperformance of the system is contributed to the inbuilt safety and redundancy factors considered by him in design of these systems, considering the importance of these facilities and to avoid or reduce any possibility of disruptions/ down times in their operation. Guwahati Refinery has now replaced the filters and awarded the Annual Maintenance Contract for next two years to replace the filters on annual basis. Based on the outstanding performance of BUNKERMAN’s Technology in this Pilot Project, the oil refineries, industries and other departments in India, are now initiating the works for their main projects incorporating this technology of Direct Carbon Capture at Negative Cost (DCCNC).

Surya Bhagwana from IOCL has given impressive feedback with the system and suggested that the Direct Carbon Capture at Negative Cost (DCCNC) should enter other refineries and commercial projects and look forward to portable devices to the Newsindia9 correspondent

Mr Soumen Chakraborthy the Electrical Manager to the IOCL Refinery interacted with the correspondents at Newsindia9 and told us that, “Chiller capacity of the AC plant has reduced & there was 30 % cost saving. The system has removed the carbon dioxide and erosive gases that causes erosion. The refinery did a  pilot project and now we would be moving forward. The system has successfully met our standards and gone a step ahead. This technology is the torch light that will take us to the future” Mr Soumen ‘s case study on the DCCN has won him a Green Technology Award and is happy with the DCCN.
